Public Education is one of the central tasks of a democratic society, and the buildings that house this important task not only shape the way we teach, but provide icons and symbols for the values we hold common as a society.
It was in the year 1954 that All Saints’ High School finished a centenary of service to the community in Hyderabad. On this occasion, Rev. Bro. John of God who was the Rector of All Saints’ High School, along with a band of dedicated staff thought it fit to start a new school. They hired a building on the King Koti Road and started what is today, the St. Paul’s High School. It was basically a Middle School and functioned as a branch of All Saints’ High School with a modest strength of students and a negligible number of staff members. A year later, the school was shifted to the present premises and class 7 was added to the existing middle school. Rapid strides of progress were made from 1958 when it became an independent institution, and Bro. Stanislaus was chosen to head the school as its Principal.
The First batch of class 10 students were sent up for the Board examinations in 1959. Since then, there has been no turning back. Bro. Stanislaus steered the school through its infancy to its 18th year, converting the school into one of the most sought after institutions in the twin-cities. From 30 students in its inception, the school has grown to a strength of more than 3000 students today.
During the period of Bro. Stanislaus, the institution received recognition in every field. The discipline was good, the results were excellent, involvement in the extra – curricular activities superb. Bro.Stanislaus took upon himself the goal of expansion. Thanks to his efforts, today we have massive structures to accommodate the ever growing requirements of the students. He was very conscious of the needs of the students and therefore, he added conveniences like Auditorium, Audio Visual Programmes, Libraries and Laboratories.
In the early years, the school had no play ground worth the name. Therefore, its budding sportsmen used the Gagan Mahal Grounds for the practice. It was here that St. Paul’s carried the day at one of the four Quadrangular Meet – a regular feature conducted then by the sister schools, All Saints’, Little Flower and St. Peter’s. The year was 1966.
During his tenure, in the year 1971, the school purchased the land opposite its compound to build the primary section. Bro. Stanislaus had dedicated the new building of the primary section to the memory of ‘ Blessed Alphonsa ‘ , to whom he was devoted. But a quirk of fate, he expired on 12th May, 1976. Today, ‘ Alphonsa Villa ‘ is known as ‘ Bro. Stanislaus Memorial Building .’
The vacuum created by the demise of Bro. Stanislaus was filled in 1976 by Bro. Dominic who took over the reigns of the school. He continued to walk in the footsteps of his predecessor, In 1978 Bro. Britto took charge as the Principal and he added two more storeys to Brother Stanislaus Building. Thereafter, Bro. N.C. Mathew took over in 1979. He was well-known for his Leadership Qualities Organizational Skills and Administrative abilities. During his tenure the school celebrated its Silver Jubilee in the year 1980. He came up with the idea of constructing the existing Administrative Block. Bro. P.K.Jose took over as the Principal from 1985 and strove to take the institution to a greater height. In the year 1989, Bro. Thomas Reddy headed the Institution. He was very popular among the staff and students for his ever obliging nature. He was elated as the Provincial Superior in the year 1995. Bro. Lawrence D’Souza took up the responsibility to head the institution in the year 1995. A dynamic personality always aiming to improve infrastructure. As such, he added another storey to the primary block and also constructed a cellar for parking space in the high school block. The year 2001 saw Bro. P.T.Joseph as the Principal who carved a niche for himself among the staff and students. He took up the responsibility of conducting the Centenary Celebrations of Montfort and also Montfort Literary and Cultural Competitions with great enthusiasm.
Bro. Show took the reigns of managing the school in the year 2003. As a captain of the ship, he steered the administration smoothly and effectively. He won the hearts of students, parents and all his well-wishers during his tenure in the school over a period of seven years. He is instrumental in celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the school in the year 2004.
Bro. Sudhakar Reddy joined the family of St. Paul’s High School in the year 2007 as the Vice-Principal . As a Vice-Principal, he discharged his duties efficiently bringing in a lot of changes in the primary section classes. In the year 2010, Bro. Show Reddy was transferred from the school after 7 long years of his service at St. Paul’s . Bro. Sudhakar Reddy then took over the responsibility on his shoulder to be the Principal of the school. Ever since, there is no looking back on his efforts to improve the school academically and in providing the best of best infrastructural facilities in the students and staff.
Apart from giving a face lift to the school premises during his tenure, he also thought of the safety of the students & staff the Fire extinguishers are placed at different points in the school premises, Hose Reel system connected to the over head tanks with booster pump in all the floors in both the school buildings .
He established English Language Lab in the school with 30 computers in an air conditioned room . Language is the medium of communication. Communication implies carrying of message or receiving of message. Students from various cultures feel hard to learn English and its proficiency. The thirst of English language learning needs some solution. To ease this solution, the English Language Lab is set up in the school to give training in the language . One period a week is allotted in the regular time table of the students to attend these classes.
The students feel different when they learn in different atmosphere. Apart from the traditional class room, lab creates an easy atmosphere. Language lab plays a pivotal role in learning the spoken English. The basic proficiency in spoken English is imparted to students through the language lab.
We are proud to say that we have a fully equipped recording studio in our school which was launched by Bro. Sudhakar Reddy with standard audio recording and software. The studio is sufficient to satisfy most of our needs of the school’s developing recordings. It was a great experience of our students and staff to use the little studio with good sound quality perfect to get a nice acoustic sound.
